An aesthetic gives you a recognizable visual language. Editorial. Old money. Coastal. Bohemian. Vintage. You can search it, save it, shop for it and build a Pinterest board around it.

Taste is harder to pin down.

It’s knowing what belongs, what doesn’t, when to stop, and how to make all those individual choices feel like they could only belong to you.

You Can Buy an Aesthetic

If you can describe an aesthetic, you can probably shop for it.

The right linens, right flowers, right stationery, right dress, right venue.

But buying all the “right” pieces doesn’t guarantee they’ll work together.

That’s where taste comes in. Taste is the editing—the proportion, restraint, repetition and decision-making that turns a collection of beautiful things into something with an actual point of view.

And sometimes, the most tasteful decision is removing something.

Pinterest Rewards More. Taste Rewards Specificity.

Pinterest is incredible for finding wedding inspiration. It’s also very good at convincing us that we need more inspiration.

Eventually, a board with hundreds of beautiful images can stop telling you anything useful.

Instead of asking What else should I add?, try asking:

What keeps showing up?

What doesn’t belong anymore?

Why do I actually like this?

The goal isn’t to create a wedding that fits perfectly inside an aesthetic category. It’s to make choices specific enough that the people who know you can look around the room and recognize you.
